THE PHUKET FIELD GUIDE
Phuket.
Good finds. Real figures.
Where to go—and what the checked prices mean.
Thalang Road, Torry’s ice cream, a southern Thai restaurant option and the difference between Phuket’s 100-baht, 50-baht and free buses.
See the places & fares
Walk Old Town, stop for ice cream at Torry’s or southern Thai food at One Chun, and compare Phuket’s three bus services. Here are the places, menus and fares to build your day around.
Old Town works well for combining streets, food and a café stop. If your accommodation is by the beach, compare the actual connection first; this guide shows the relevant bus services instead of pretending all travel fits into one small allowance.

Useful booking options01 / STREETS TO EXPLORE
Thalang Road and Soi Rommanee: start with the town.
- THE IDEA
- A town walk, cafés and architecture.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- This is Old Town—not a beach outing.
Use Thalang Road and Soi Rommanee as the starting points for an Old Town walk. The shophouse façades and public streets do not require buying a tour. Museums, private interiors, food and shopping are separate purchases; choose the ones that interest you rather than treating the whole area as an attraction ticket.
If you are staying in Patong, Kata or another beach area, include the journey to town in this plan. A cheap lunch does not make a cross-island outing cheap by itself. The bus choices below give you a real alternative to pricing every journey as a private taxi.
02 / A SPECIFIC FOOD STOP
A small sweet stop—or a southern Thai meal.
- THE IDEA
- Choose the purchase from a real menu.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- An ice-cream product price is not the price of lunch.

Torry’s is at 16 Soi Rommanee. Its own product list currently shows O-Aew Sorbet and Phuket Chocolate Ice Cream at 95 baht, and Bi-Co-Moi at 150 baht. Those are published product prices checked on 15 October 2026, not a promise about a dine-in set or your final bill. Open the shop’s menu for the option you actually want.
For a sit-down meal, One Chun at 48/1 Thep Krasatti Road is a named southern Thai option. Michelin highlights crab curry with coconut milk and mu hong, the braised pork-belly dish. This is a restaurant choice, not a claimed cheapest-meal recommendation: inspect the current menu and decide whether sharing dishes suits your group.
03 / THE FARES WE CAN ACTUALLY CHECK
100 baht, 50 baht or a free city shuttle.
- THE IDEA
- Public-bus options for different journeys.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Different services—not interchangeable fares.
Phuket Smart Bus publishes three distinct choices: Airport–Rawai via Patong, Karon and Kata at 100 baht; Bus Terminal 2–Phuket Town–Patong at 50 baht; and the free Dragon Line between Central Festival, Old Town and OTOP Market. For a Patong–Town return on the 50-baht service, two rides would total 100 baht at the published fare.
Open the actual route and timetable before choosing it. Check the stop nearest your destination, the return service and the remaining walk. Traffic can change arrival times. A route passing a beach town does not mean it serves every hotel, and the free city shuttle is not the airport bus.
THE LITTLE THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING
Before you decide.
Can I use the free bus from Phuket Airport?
Not the Dragon Line described here. It is a city shuttle. The operator lists the Airport–Rawai service at 100 baht and the Town–Patong route separately at 50 baht.
How much should I budget for the whole day?
Add the transport you will use and the food you choose from current menus. Accommodation, airport arrival, alcohol and paid attractions are separate. The published figures above price specific choices; they are not a total for your day.
Will saving this create a plan?
No. It keeps the guide as an idea in your favourites. You decide what to add to your Diary.

The detail behind the guide.
Researched editorial guidance, not a first-hand team visit or a guaranteed package price. Prices quoted here come from the venue or operator and were checked on 15 October 2026. They may change; none establishes the cost of your whole day.
