Koh Mook: Farang Beach and village life
- THE IDEA
- A beach stay with a resident village
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Emerald Cave is a separate guided sea outing.

On Koh Mook, Farang Beach is a named beach to put on your map rather than searching for an unspecified 'best beach'. The island also has a substantial resident Muslim community, so it offers village life alongside the tourist coast. Sabai Beach is another coastal option, but establish access with your accommodation before setting off.
Tham Morakot, the Emerald Cave, lies on the west of the island. Entry involves the water passage rather than simply walking into a roadside cave. Choose a local guide or operator and ask about the day's sea, tide and access conditions. A booking for Koh Mook accommodation is not a guarantee that the cave can be visited.
REEF & SAND
Koh Kradan: beach first, snorkelling by conditions
- THE IDEA
- A stay centred on the shore
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Limited independent dining compared with a mainland town.
Koh Kradan is the beach-and-snorkelling option. Rather than adding another island transfer immediately, ask your accommodation which part of the reef is suitable that day and where to enter without crossing shallow coral. Visibility, water depth and the landing point can change the experience.
For food, Seven Seas Restaurant is a named on-island option, with a restaurant and Barnacles Bar listed by the resort. If you are staying elsewhere, ask about visitor access and available tables before walking over. Check the actual menu: an island restaurant bill is not the same thing as a mainland street-food budget.
YOUR TRANSFER
Pak Meng, Kuan Tung Ku or Hat Yao?
- THE IDEA
- Get to the island on your booking
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- A pier name alone does not confirm a route.
Pak Meng, Kuan Tung Ku and Hat Yao are different mainland departure points used for Trang Sea trips. Pak Meng is identified by the tourism authority as a departure base for island day tours. Your hotel transfer or scheduled boat may use another pier, so copy the exact one from the booking rather than choosing the nearest-looking map result.
Ask whether the fare covers a mainland pickup, the boat and arrival at your hotel or only the island landing. Confirm the return route at the same time. In rough weather, that route may change or not run; a provider's current message is more useful than a timetable screenshot from another season.
ISLAND EVENING
Kradan evenings: Seven Seas Restaurant & Barnacles Bar
- THE IDEA
- A beachside meal without another transfer
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Resort service and visitor access vary by date.
If your base is Koh Kradan, Seven Seas lists casual dining and an open-air bar: an actual evening option to enquire about, not a promise of an island nightlife strip. On a short stay, booking the table at your own property can also remove the need to find a transfer after dinner.
For a mainland night before or after the boat, use Trang town as a separate food stop rather than expecting it to be beside the island. Ask your island accommodation for its final meal service and transfer cutoff before arranging a late arrival. Restaurant opening and boat arrival need to work together.
THE LITTLE THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING
Before you decide.
Can I arrive late and go straight to an island?
Only if a confirmed boat and your accommodation can receive you. Get the actual pickup pier, departure and hotel handoff from the provider; do not infer an evening service from a daytime timetable.
Which island suits a first visit?
Koh Mook combines beach options with a resident village; Koh Kradan is the more beach-and-snorkelling-led choice. Choose the island's services and transfer first, then compare accommodation.
Will saving this create plans in My Diary?
No. Saving keeps the guide as an idea. Choose what to add to a day yourself; nothing here makes a booking or changes your trip automatically.
