THE KOH LIPE FIELD GUIDE
Your first day on Koh Lipe:
one island, several ways to spend it.
Named places. Useful choices. Your kind of day.
Where to eat, what to see and where to go tonight in Koh Lipe.

Walking Street for food and a browse, Sunrise Beach for a meal at Castaway, On The Rocks for a sea-view table and an operator contact if you want to get on the water.
Koh Lipe is small enough that a day does not have to be a packaged itinerary. The useful distinction is between its beach areas, the central food street and an actual boat excursion. Choose a beach-and-food combination or contact a dive operator for an outing. Neither option requires pretending everyone has the same budget or the same number of nights.

For food and an evening wander: Walking Street
- THE IDEA
- Restaurants, small shops and a named place to look for snacks.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- It is a central street, not an extra island excursion.

Walking Street runs inland from Pattaya Beach towards the centre of Koh Lipe. The Tourism Authority identifies it as the island's concentration of shops, restaurants and bars; roti and teh tarik, the pulled milk tea, are two specific things to look for.
Use it when you want to compare menus or eat in stages rather than commit to one large dinner. Pattaya Beach here means the beach on Koh Lipe, not the mainland city with the same name.
Beach restaurant
For food on Sunrise Beach: Castaway
- THE IDEA
- Thai and European dishes, plus vegetarian options.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Seating ranges from low tables to conventional chairs; request what suits you.
Castaway's restaurant is a specific Sunrise Beach option for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Its official page describes Thai and European dishes, vegetarian choices and seating on a covered deck as well as by the beach.
If your group needs ordinary chairs rather than floor cushions, ask when booking; both types are described by the venue. Groups of more than six are asked to reserve. The covered deck is also an option to enquire about if a shower changes your beach plans.
Restaurant choice
For a sea-view meal: On The Rocks
- THE IDEA
- A hillside restaurant at Serendipity with Thai, seafood and international dishes.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- A separate setting from a casual Walking Street snack stop.
On The Rocks at Serendipity is the choice for a meal overlooking the sea from the hillside. The resort describes Thai dishes, seafood and international food, so the reason to choose it is the table and setting as much as one particular dish.
Ask for the current menu and table availability before heading over, especially if the view is the purpose of the visit. If steps are an issue for anyone in your party, check the access route with the resort. Do not confuse a sea view with a promise that the restaurant faces sunset.
Snorkelling & diving
For an on-the-water plan: speak to Forra
- THE IDEA
- A named operator for a boat or underwater experience.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- Routes, suitability and departures depend on the actual day.
Forra operates from Koh Lipe and advertises snorkelling trips, introductory scuba sessions and trips around the Butang archipelago.
Tell the team your experience level and how much time you have. Ask about the sites proposed, equipment, supervision, park charges and cancellation terms before booking. If no suitable departure fits, Walking Street and the two named restaurant choices remain land-based alternatives.
THE LITTLE THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING
Before you decide.
Where should I go for food without pre-booking a whole evening?
Walking Street is the place to compare restaurant menus and look for roti or pulled tea. Specific sit-down alternatives are Castaway and On The Rocks.
Can I book a snorkelling outing rather than a dive course?
Forra advertises snorkelling trips as well as diving. Contact the team for departures, suitability and inclusions for your date; this guide does not promise a specific route will run.
Will saving this create plans in My Diary?
No. Saving keeps the guide as an idea. Choose what to add to a day yourself; nothing here makes a booking or changes your trip automatically.

Keep the idea.
Save this guide to your favourites. It stays an idea—not an automatic plan in your trip.
