The decision is about the atmosphere outside the room, not simply finding the shortest line between two coasts.
The bigger complexity often lies before you reach the island. Your booked operator, landing point and onward arrangement should connect to the accommodation you choose, especially with luggage. Once settled, a modest routine may be the best use of the place: your beach, a meal and time to decide whether to organise a separate marine outing. A central room can work well if you enjoy walking out to eat; a more self-contained coastal stay asks you to value its immediate setting. Neither choice guarantees calm water or a particular boat landing on your travel date.
