THE KOH CHANG FIELD GUIDE
Your first day on Koh Chang:
pick a beach, a view and somewhere to eat.
Named places. Useful choices. Your kind of day.
Where to eat, what to see and where to go tonight in Koh Chang.

Kai Bae for the bay and viewpoint, Klong Prao for a lagoon-side meal and White Sand Beach for a dated evening programme.
Koh Chang's west-coast beach areas are not interchangeable. Kai Bae, Klong Prao and White Sand Beach each give you a useful base for a different outing. Here are named places and food options, plus a cooking class if you want a booked activity. Choose your combination rather than being prescribed a quiet first night.

For beach and viewpoint: Kai Bae
- THE IDEA
- A named beach with an elevated viewpoint nearby.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- The viewpoint is a separate stop, not something every beach hotel overlooks.

Kai Bae is the beach choice here for a view across the water towards offshore islands. Pair it with Kai Bae viewpoint if seeing the coast from above is part of what you want; the Tourism Authority identifies the viewpoint as a sunset location.
Decide whether to use the beach, the viewpoint or both when arranging your ride. A west-coast sunset is weather-dependent, so the useful promise is the location and outlook, not a guaranteed orange sky.
Klong Prao food stop
For a lagoon-side meal: Blue Lagoon
- THE IDEA
- Breakfast, lunch or dinner with vegetarian and vegan options.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- The restaurant has separate daytime and evening service.
Blue Lagoon's Be Cozy Rest bar and restaurant is a named option in Klong Prao. Its current website lists breakfast and lunch service, then a separate dinner sitting, and explicitly offers vegetarian and vegan choices.
Choose it for the lagoon setting and check the current menu directly. Older references to a cooking school are not used here: the current official page verifies a restaurant and workshops generally, not a guaranteed bookable Thai cooking class.
Dinner & entertainment
For an evening programme: White Sand Beach and KC Grande
- THE IDEA
- A named beach restaurant with published performance nights.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- The listed show is not every night.
On White Sand Beach, KC Grande's The Beach Restaurant offers a concrete evening option. Its current events page lists live music and a fire show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, alongside its restaurant offers.
Check the date with the restaurant before heading over and ask about a non-resident dinner reservation. If your visit falls on another night, choose the restaurant for the meal and location rather than expecting an unlisted performance.
Bookable activity
For a hands-on afternoon: KC Grande's Thai cooking class
- THE IDEA
- A named class at White Sand Beach.
- USEFUL TO KNOW
- The resort requires advance notice; it is not a guaranteed last-minute rain plan.
KC Grande also publishes a Thai cooking class with its chef. If making the food appeals more than moving between beaches, contact the resort for the menu and availability before you arrive.
The current page requires a reservation at least a day in advance. Ask whether non-resident guests can join and what dietary adjustments are possible. This is a different booking from a table at The Beach Restaurant, so specify that you want the class.
THE LITTLE THINGS YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING
Before you decide.
Where should I head for a sunset view?
Kai Bae viewpoint is the named location in this guide. Check conditions on the day; the viewpoint cannot guarantee visibility.
Can I arrive and join the cooking class immediately?
Do not assume so. KC Grande's current page requires advance reservation. Contact the resort about your date and whether non-residents can participate.
Will saving this create plans in My Diary?
No. Saving keeps the guide as an idea. Choose what to add to a day yourself; nothing here makes a booking or changes your trip automatically.
GOOD FINDS. YOUR DIARY.
Not planning yet?
Keep the idea.
Save this guide to your favourites. It stays an idea—not an automatic plan in your trip.
