Phangan has several social worlds, and the party reputation describes only part of the island. Thong Sala is the practical arrival-and-service hub. Haad Rin is a deliberate event-led choice, while Sri Thanu and Hin Kong offer another west-coast pattern of cafés, longer stays and sunset evenings. Northern villages and bays, including Chaloklum, feel different again. Thong Nai Pan on the northeast coast makes the beach and accommodation a stronger centre of gravity for the whole stay.
