Getting there & around
Arriving
Khao Lak is a mainland road destination north of Phuket. Phuket Airport is the most convenient flight gateway, followed by a transfer up the coast. Buses use the main highway, but your hotel may be some distance from the stop. Similan boats normally depart from the Thap Lamu area.
Moving around
For short urban journeys, combine walking with songthaews, local taxis or reputable ride-hailing where available. Outside the centre, attractions spread quickly and a driver can save an entire day. Compare the real door-to-door journey, not just the kilometres shown on the map.
How much time? Three to five nights gives this relaxed coast room for beach time and one seasonal park or dive excursion without depending on perfect sea conditions every day.

When to go
November to roughly April normally brings the most dependable Andaman boat weather, with the busiest demand around Christmas and the northern winter. The southwest-monsoon months can still produce good days, but rough seas, reduced ferry routes and marine-park closures make flexibility essential.
Peak season usually improves transport choice and weather confidence, but increases demand. Shoulder and green-season travel can feel more spacious and vivid. Treat this as route guidance, then check live conditions shortly before travelling.
Turn it into a day
Give the place enough time to recover from arrival, learn one local area and enjoy at least one day without a major transfer.
