Where to stay
Sunrise Beach A long east-coast base for early light, swimming conditions when suitable and access towards nearby snorkelling areas.

Sunset Beach A quieter western pocket with fewer services and a stronger stay-put atmosphere.
Walking Street area Useful for food and a central walk between coasts, though it does not deliver a beachfront stay.
Your first day: one small island after a long journey
Once the arrival boat and hotel transfer are complete, use Walking Street to orient yourself and choose a meal. Sunrise Beach and Pattaya Beach are different sides of Koh Lipe; Pattaya Beach here is not the city of Pattaya. Save the hotel’s exact location so nobody follows the wrong destination search.
Keep the first beach session near your base and learn where boats operate before entering the water. There is no need to add a snorkelling trip on arrival afternoon. The effort was getting here; let the island be easy once you have arrived.
Make the transfer part of the plan
Flights through Hat Yai, road transfers to the coast and seasonal boats form one chain. Check every operator, terminal and connection.
Use a buffer around important flights because sea and road conditions can change the advertised timing.
Choose one snorkelling route
Inner and outer marine routes differ in distance and conditions. Compare boat type, group size, equipment, park fees and environmental practice.

Let the island stay walkable
Lipe's appeal is the ability to move between beaches and food without a packed road itinerary. Leave room for ordinary swimming and slow evenings.

The wider archipelago is a protected marine landscape, not simply a collection of photo stops. Park access and conservation rules belong in the decision.

Pick a marine day by route, not the number of stops
Ko Adang–Ko Rawi and Ko Hin Ngam are named parts of the surrounding island landscape, but a tour’s final access and stops depend on the current programme and conditions. Ask which sites are actually included, how long is spent travelling and what park charges are additional.
Choose an outing suited to the least confident swimmer who wants to join, with clear flotation and boarding arrangements. Friends who prefer to remain on Lipe can meet the group for dinner. You do not have to collect every nearby island to have made the long transfer worthwhile.
Budget the whole arrival chain
Compare a flight-and-road-and-boat journey with the complete transfer cost visible. A cheap flight is not necessarily the cheapest arrival once a missed connection requires another night. Confirm the actual pier, pickup and arrival instructions with the operator for your date.
Keep island meals, water, any local transfer and one optional boat outing in the budget alongside the room. Before paying for a beachfront upgrade, decide how much of the day you will spend there. A central room can suit travellers who want to eat and move around on foot; a quieter beach stay suits those who want to remain close to it.
Make a short stay less rushed
Three nights offers two full days between travel chains: one can be marine-led and the other completely local. That is a suggested shape, not a minimum booking rule. With less time, skip the extra excursion rather than trying to recover the travel hours by packing every afternoon.
Keep onward boats and flights separate in the Diary, including any mainland overnight. Do not assume a seasonal international connection runs year-round or that it removes border formalities. For this guide’s simplest plan, keep the journey within Thailand and confirm any cross-border extension independently.
