Where to stay

Kai Bae A compact compromise for restaurants, viewpoints and southern boat connections, with hills around the centre.
Lonely Beach and Bailan A more social, budget-led southern base. The road journey is longer and the terrain steeper.
A sensible first day in Koh Chang

Choose the west coast carefully

Klong Plu and other waterfalls depend on rainfall, park access and trail conditions. An early visit can be calmer and cooler.
